Washington-based HyperSciences was founded in 2014 by Mark Russell, an aerospace engineer who formerly led Blue Origin’s space-based crew capsule program. When Mark first saw the University of Washington’s ram accelerator being demoed, he knew it could be applied to everything from aerospace to mining (where his family has been active for generations).
By the summer of 2019, HyperSciences raised over $10M in a Series A round via the crowdfunding platform SeedInvest and Crowdcube. At the time, it was one of the most successful crowdfunding campaigns in the world. With the confidence of over 4,000 individual investors — and the support of Shell and one of the world’s largest mining resources companies — we began field testing HyperCore for drilling and mining purposes in the fall of 2019. Each achievement gets HyperSciences closer to full commercialization of its HyperCore engine.
